Let Us Not Forget…

Memorial Day is the day to remember and honor our fallen military.  The sky was “Tahoe Blue” this morning!

It was a rainy weekend but the sun shone over the crowd at Sierra Mountain Cemetery in Truckee on Monday when a large group gathered to honor our fallen veterans.  The colors were presented by the Civil Air Patrol, a very active chapter located in Truckee.

There are 185 veterans buried at the  Sierra Mountain Cemetery from the Civil War, WW I, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.  Please take some time when you are in Truckee to visit them.  Music was provided by the Mountain Belles….one of whom (Sunni Todd) just lost her husband (Robert Todd), who was a Marine Corps Veteran. Bob was the owner of Todd Aero and provided mechanical services to plane owners at the Truckee Tahoe Airport. He also participated with the Civil Air Patrol.   There is a schlorship set up in his name.  You can donate to the: “Bob Todd Air Academy Scholarship”

We hope you enjoyed your Holiday Weekend in Truckee and were honored for those that attended the services on Monday.    Have you been to the Sierra Mountain Cemetery?  There is lots of history there and other places in our town.

Stop by the office to share your stories…
